Growing up around the greater Cincinnati area, I was exposed to vibrant street art and murals from a young age. My curiosity in how these large scale works of art were produced turned into action when I was hired as a Mural Studio Artist for the nonprofit Artworks in 2024.
Pennrose - Building Community
Position: Co-Lead Designers: Mural Studio Artists - Simon Schubert, Peyton Harshfield, Amiaya Alleyne Location: Walnut Hills, 933 Lincoln Ave, Cincinnati OH 45206. Thatcher Flats.
Pennrose partnered with ArtWorks to produce a mural that uplifts local history and inspires a sense of togetherness. Building Community, designed by members of the ArtWorks Mural Studio, celebrates the Black Business District and its story. It borrows inspiration from the Harriet Beecher Stowe house and the original Thatcher's Fish and Poultry store. Throughout the mural, references to the items sold at Thatcher's such as the fish and grocery elements can be found, with the people signifying the solidarity and strength the black community found in each other through times of discrimination. Ultimately, this mural aims to inspire connection with neighbors and honor the rich history of Walnut Hills.
AppleTV and Civitas - You've Never Seen Cincinnati Like This
Position: Co-Lead Designer: Civitas Experiential Location: TQL Stadium - 1501 Central Parkway
Civitas Experiential partnered with ArtWorks to produce a mural that celebrates the star players of FC Cincinnati at their home field of TQL Stadium. You’ve Never Seen Cincinnati Like This showcases these star players in full action. Throughout the mural, viewers can see their favorite players spanning across the stadium they love, ultimately encouraging our community to root for FC Cincinnati as they make their way to the MLS Cup.
Electric Landscape (blue)
Position: Private Contractor Designer: Kate Tepe Location: Artworks HQ - 2429 Gilbert Avenue
I was hired to execute Kate Tepe’s Electric Landscape (Blue) within the new Artworks HQ building on Gilbert Avenue. Tepe is based in Cincinnati and has served as a Designer, Teaching Artist, and Administrative Staff member with ArtWorks.
